Present Tense

El tiempo presente. The present tense of the indicative mood is used in Spanish to express actions or situations taking place in the present moment. These actions may be: 
 
continuous—actions or situations currently in progress. 
habitual—actions or situations which are repeated over time. 
imminent future—actions which are about to happen. 

Sample Sentences:
  • Mañana me voy. (Tomorrow I'm taking off. —imminent future)
  • Cada día toma café con leche. (Every day she drinks coffee with milk. —habitual)
  • Vamos a menudo al cine. (We often go to the movies. —habitual)
  • Veo la television. (I am watching the television. —continuous)
  • Tengo mucha energía. (I have a lot of energy. —continuous)
