I had one of those nooooooooo moments just as i clicked send and spotted some howlers.

so, in spain, presumably you dont suffer from monosylabic teenagers as they need several sylables to grunt a reply :-)

puede respirar por las orejas

no puedo                      (i cant)
sí que puedes                (you can)
no lo haré                     (i wont)
pero podrías                  (but you could)
supongo que sí              (i supose)
lo harás                        (you will)
podría hacerlo                (i might)
venga                           (come on)
vale, Lo haré                  ( ok i will)
tu molas                        (you rock)

so you need a stand in "it" for the missing verb/noun
you need an additional Sí for the affirmative even though the conjugated verb is positve by default (e.g. we are)
and if adding a sí, throw in a que for good measure.

I shall be sure to add them to my cursory replies so i sound like a native.
