Del Taco al Tango - With an Andalusian Accent

Hi folks, this lesson was supposed to come out over the weekend!  There was some kind of publishing problem... we're all pointing fingers to find out who's to blame!  In the meantime, please enjoy this lesson! 

Hey spanishpod users! This is a very advanced show, Maribel's accent it's sooooo different and sometimes hard to understand. Let me know if you have questions!

I thoroughly enjoyed the lesson! Especially el pie y lo pie ;)

It reminds me of my time in Marbella and Maribel's Malaguenya accent took me back :)

I found the accent difficult to understand at first but now it sounds borderline comforting. Ditto with a standard Spanish accent from my time in Salamanca. Which, incidentally, JP mentioned several lessons back with his, rather astute, observation of the doubling up of vale. Vale vale.

Btw, I found that Spaniards used 'chulo' similarly to the way Americans use pimp. It can be negative or positive depending on the context so I was surprised by Esti and Maribel's response that for them it was largely negative.

Por ejemplo, una vez un chico de Andorra le dijo a un hombre que estaba sentando a su lado,  con un tripod numatico "que chulo tio!"

It struck me as the most Spanish phrase ever :-P

It's one of the things that I love about Spanish, all the different accents and dialects.  

Glad you liked it. We will have several different accents from all over Spain and Latin America!

This is exactly what is missing with frenchpod: the different accents. It is so "Parisien". The french spoken in the south of France and in Québec is very different! I enjoy so much the discussions between Liliana and Esti on differences between Spain an South America. What about French in America. You should tell your friends of frenchpod!

the accent sounds good I like It by the way some words which are rarily used it's hard  to fined someone who knows how to write them

I already send you comment to Frenchpod I agree, a language is well studied when you can learn the difference in accents , in slangs, it makes our learning experience richer.

There is no doubts about your shows at all I am still a newbe and this is more advanced level show and its all in spanish. but I listened to it because this is my way I listen even I dont understand. But thruogh my listening to this show I  think I understood one sentence from the whole program You ask your gust to spell a word for you. Was that right? And I commented on that.

I found this very exciting for me because I just got back from Jerez de la frontera (my second time being there) and I LOVE the accents.  It's very comforting for me because I've learned to speak spanish with such an accent from my time spent there.  It will be a little difficult for me when I return to Spanish class in college because I'm used to saying "tu quiere" instead of "tu quieres".  But I love listening to the different accents.

You have the right attitude, even if you only understand a line of the show, its great that you get your ear accustomed to different accents in Spanish.

And I did ask my gust to spell a word for me.

Jerez! Nice city! Hope you stick around SpanishPod because we have a lot of dialogues in Spanish from Spain, in our site you can hear accents from all around Latin America, this improves your hearing! I speak French and at the beginning listening to my Quebec friends was soooo hard than French from France, but now I am used to it jijij :)
