Buenos días a tod@s,
¿Cuál es su sandwich favorito?
Which one is your favorite sandwich?
El mío es de jamón serrano y queso.
Mine has cured ham and cheese.
Mi sandwich favorito es el ruben, pero el monte cristo también me gusta.
The ruben is my all-time favorite, but I'm a fan of the monte cristo as well.

I would like to point out something which could be a little confusing at first. Fui means “I was” So, a literal translation of “Yo no fui” would be “I wasn’t me”. Don’t let this confuse you, it is just how they say it in Spanish. Another example would be if I made a phone call, I might say “Hi, this is Steve” or “It’s Steve”. In Spanish I would say “Hola, soy Steve” – “Hi I am Steve”
A mi me gusta un sándwich de huevos revueltos con ketchup
I like a sandwich of scrambled eggs with ketchup.
JP - cómo se hace un “monte cristo” sándwich? No lo sé qué es dentro - nunca he oído de un “monte cristo”.
Mi favorito es el sándwich tostado con queso y jamón.
Thanks stevestrv for your explanation of Yo no fui
Tengo una pregunta mas: In the expansion section there is the phrase
¿Se comió tu comida? Shouldn't be te comiste tu comida?
Mi gustan todos tipos de sandwiches pero sin jamon
anbarfa,
te comiste tu comida? = did you eat your food?
se comió tu comida? = did he/she eat your food?
mi sándwich favorito es de atún (fresco!) con mayonesa & queso. mmmmmmmm
kikuuyu

The truth is I am really confused with all those se te tu me lo la le etc.. etc..
regards,
Esti:

Why do we say..
¿Quién se comió mi sándwich?
NOT
¿Quién comió mi sándwich?
Will it be wrong if I say the second one?
Hi ncmuck, your second sentence is perfectly fine :)
Literally, that first sentence is "who ate (for himself/herself) my sandwich?" As in, 'who the heck took MY sandwich and ate it for himself?"
That "se" just means "for himself/herself," but it also has an added effect; it seems to color the action unexpected.
"Comerse" is offen used to mean "to gobble up," whereas "comer" just means "to eat." Hope that helps.
Thanks JP.
That was crystal clear.
