Question of the day:
Have you ever been robbed?
My neighbors were robbed before they put bars on their door. :(
Is the phase “nos robaron” really reflexive? Wouldn’t it be “nos robamos” if it were reflexive? I think the pronoun is the indirect object, not the reflexive.
Además, yo traduciría la frase “qué se llevaron” como el pasivo: “What was taken?” Si fuera el reflexiva, querría decir “What did they take from themselves?”
Also, I would translate the phrase “qué se llevaron” as the passive: “What was taken?” If it were reflexive, it would mean “What did they take from themselves?”
Hola Alma,
Me preguntaba lo mismo sobre "se llevaron". El diccionario dice que "llevarse" quiere decir: "to take away, or to take with" y "llevar" es : "to transport or to carry".
I was wondering the same thing about "se llevaron". The dictionary says that "llevarse" means "to take away, or to take with" and that"llevar" is "to transport or to carry" (from one place to another)
The difference is subtle, and I'm glad that this newbie lesson made me take a closer look at the reflexive use of llevar.
gracias!
Gracias, Alma y kikuyu.
-I had the same question about "se llevaron" !
Alma, "nos robaron" no es reflexivo. Queire decir "they robbed us". Puede decir te robaron, they robbed you. Tienes razon es indirecto.
-Alma, "nos robaron" isn't reflexive. It means they robbed us. Without the "nos" we can't know who they robbed..it's only they robbed. You can say "te robaron, they robbed you. You're right it's indirect.
No he robado porque soy pobre.
