grab a bunch of newbie lessons and start listening, over and over. LISTEN get a feel for the sounds and rythms of the language. follow that up by comparing the written words in the pdf or on the website.

Follow that up by trying to use the words you have heard.  Write here in a dialog related to the lesson. If you have spanish speakers to bounce the words off to get your pronuciation corrected. Great.  If not, I found the sound analyzer section of a cheap berlitz starter disk helpful as I was getting started.

Some friends use the guided option here to get live feedback and direction. I haven't tried it yet, but they seem to like it.

The lessons here are much better but that little tool and the crossword games on it made the disk a worthwhile investment.

To start: click on "Lessons" in the top menu.

Then on "Channels" in the menu in the second line.

Choose a "Lesson Channel" based on your knowledge of Spanish, e.g., "Newbie", "Elementary", "Intermediate", etc. and click on it.

A list of lesson names will appear. Click on the play button below the image to listen to the lesson or any of the items to the right of the image to see the dialogue, do the exercises or read user comments.
