Aquí estamos a 37 grados.Estoy de acuerdo con Chillosk, hace calor hoy en la Filipinas!!Estamos sudando!!!
hace means does, calor means heat, so hace calor means the weather is doing heat? it does makes sense that way

Is caliente another form of calor? can you use it when talking about weather?

Hola Ewong!
"Calor" is a noun: Tienes calor -- you are hot (not sexy, not spicy, just sweaty hot from the environmental temperature)
or: Hace calor -- it is hot (only referring to weather)
"Caliente" is an adjective: el agua caliente -- the hot water. You can also talk about weather with this word: el clima caliente -- the hot climate.
Para mí, hoy en tu país hace demasiado calor!
Hope this helps!

In the vocabulary desodorante is listed as a adjective. I would have thought it would be a noun. Is there a reason why it is an adjective?

Prefiero el frio que el calor, no me gusta sudar. En el invierno, tu puedes ponerse un sueter.
