Lesson Introduction
Subject pronouns, the little words that act as place holders for the subjects of sentences, are a very basic and important part of your Spanish grammar studies. In this short video podcast, we'll talk about subject pronouns, what they are, and how to deduce them in English. More importantly, we'll review the subject pronouns in Spanish.

Wow, that's a cool corner. I like it :)
¡Qué divertido! :)
Hay un pequeño problema en el PDF con la posición de "antecedente".
Hi Spanish Pod People - Is "Clave" just for premium subscribers, then? That's what it says on its page, but in other places where it's announced, it says it's for all paid subscribers.
Inquiring minds want to know! :-)

@pattyayers:
If you have a basic subscription (as I do), you cannot download the video files from this page as you have already noticed; however, you should be able to play the video right on this web page by clicking one of the little triangles symbolizing "play" buttons.
You can also get the video in your personalized RSS feed (go to the "Me" section and then the "My Lessons" tab, then you find a little box "My Personal RSS Lesson Feed" on the right-hand side(!) below some advertisement; click "Settings & Help", activate "Future Cooking with Tabasco" and "Future La Clave", and follow the instructions on that page to open the feed in iTunes).
Hope this helps
I don't remember too well but "nosotros/nosotras" and "vosotros/vosotras" were not really taught in my classes. I just remembered the masculine form until you pointed this out. Nicely done!
Ahora hay más problemas en el PDF: "yo", "él" y "usted" están duplicado. :-)
Sí martinillo, y le falta el pronombre "ellas" y las formas femeninas de nosotros y vosotros.
also the last entry seems to be a mystery guest.
there is a blank space and then:
????? Noun (m) antecedent /antecedente
Me gusta mucho el video. Felicitaciones al realizador.
Pues, si no he entendido mal, JP en el video dice que vosotros y vosotras se usan solo en España. ¿Qué se usa en América Latina? ¿Solo ustedes?
¡Muchas gracias!
What a brain-friendly and entertaining way to explain grammar ! Me gusta mucho !
Fabrizio,
(a real beginner here at Spanish so bear with me!)
¡Me gusta La Clave! ¡Mucho informativo y interesante!
Cuantos más mejor :-D.
¡Gracias!
jejeje, pobrecita Liliana, todo el mundo se mete con ella...
Pues, ¡claro! que ponemos atención cuando tu hablas en los podcasts... ;-)
Son muy divertidos los videos, me encantan.
He hecho la receta de guacamole dos veces y me encanta pero ahora me huele a cebollas!
Wow. I have to say, I'm impressed. I thought this video was fantastic.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of these. I hope you guys expand the usage of this video approach to topics other than strictly grammar. I would love to see some colloquial Spanish covered using this approach as well.
GREAT job guys. Bien Hecho!
Me gusta etsa idea! Repasar siempre es bueno. Gracias, gracias. Espero para mas!
I don't believe it. Last night I had just finished the first draft of 'Marti´s Guide to Verb Conjugation,' based ont the subject pronouns. Then I opened SpanishPol and there was La Clave. I hope it is a case of "great minds...
Me gusta mucho los videocasts. De hecho, no he pensado mucho antes de descubrir los videocasts en spanishpod, cuanto mas puedo aprender viendo las palabras mientras que escucharlos. Pero es muy util.
Me encantaria ver unos videocasts acerca de unas de las gramaticas mas complicadas, como el subjunctivo o los usos del condicional porque a veces me parece dificil recordarlos. Muy bien hecho, gracias =)
Great lesson. La Clave is a really wonderful addition. Thank you all so much!
One question about the 'usted/es' and 'tu' forms. I'm always confused about which form to use in the following situation (or similar ones). I'm in, say, a dance club, and a Latino introduces himself. The environment is informal, the feeling is instantly friendly, we're in the U.S. (if that makes any difference), the same age, and it just feels to me that I should use the 'tu' form. But the person is a stranger in actuality, and I don't want to
be rude or disrespectful. Do I default to 'usted' and wait to see how s/he addresses me?
Thanks again folks. Really great job (otra vez!).
(Quick aside . . . I host a Sunday afternoon salsa jam once a month in Seattle that I call 'Cafe Clave.' Clave in this sense, of course, meaning the rhythmic key of the music. It's a great word to this gringa's sensibilities!)
alma, when is the next salsa jam? I'll be back home in Seattle at the beginning of October, maybe I can stop by! I'm glad you like the title, "La clave" I picked it because it had so many cool facets.
You are always safe starting with "usted," but in a dance club, if your feeling "tú," then go with it. Use "usted" if you want to hold him at arm's length.
However, in more formal situations, you should always lead with "usted."
;) Excellent advice . . . there are always those times!
The next Cafe Clave is the first Sunday of October. It's held at The Century Ballroom on Capitol Hill, from 1:00 to 3:30. The owner serves up a nice (though small) brunch menu beginning around noon, and it's just a fun informal dance (unlike the packed house there on Thursday and Saturday nights.)
If you're around, please stop by ...
great job! i'm so excited with all the changes!! great videos!! :)
¡Hola!
Me he dado cuenta que el PDF ya no es correcto: los pronombres "yo", "él" y "usted" están doblados y faltan los pronombres "tú", "ella", "nosotras", "nosotros", "vosotras", "vosotros", "ellas" y "ellos".
Brilliant!
Well done the Spanishpod team.
:-)
¡Qué guay!
Muchas gracias por eso.
These videos are cool way to learn the language, I would like to see some cool places in Mexico on video, maybe buying stuff and walking around in spanish, that would be handy, even if it is made up.
Me gusto mucha el leccion.Gracias.Pero,the only thing I found slightly confusing at the very end of the video was how usted and ustedes was written at the bottom of the chart instead of grouped in with tu and vosotras/vosotros.Interesting that only ustedes is used in Latin America which is more formal, right? So there is not an informal version of plural for you in Latin America? And conversely in Spain, there is only the informal nosotros/nosotras and not the formal.Or have I read too much into this. Also interesting to note that in a group it only takes one male to change it to a masculine form [even if it is a female referring to the group, right?]
bababardwan
not quite, in spain they use both nosotr@s and vosotr@s
sorry, as you were, i meant in spain they use nosotros vosotros and ustedes. there is no formal "us" since if you are one of us we dont need to stand on ceremony
where is the lesson?
Nyamzaya,
There is no transcript, dialog section for the video lessons.
I you want to transcribe it and post it. it would be good exercise. Others have for other lessons.
Cobre
¡ Vosotros sois increible ! ¡ Super ! Marco
WOW...this video is amazing, good job, keep up with it.
by the way, is there a high resolution version of the video?
