Remember Me
Lesson Introduction

This is us! The members of the SpanishPod team are here to introduce themselves. JP, Liliana, Leo, and Adriana talk about their skills and their roles. We come from different parts of the world, but we have a common goal: to help you speak and learn Spanish. Let's begin!

Oooh, looking forward to the salsa, and it is great to have Spanish ... well, I guess it's now 'pod' ... back. Welcome to the new the hosts and it's good to see Adri still with us :) I'd really like to hear a show about modern architects or artists in Latin America--something to look forward to visiting once my Spanish gets up to speed! Best regards to the team.

Hi everyone! The new site and team are fantastic (the girls are beautiful, the guys are cute - to stay on the charming side, as PJ said, heh heh;)). I'm looking forward to shows on Spanish accents and slang, because I'm closer to Spain than to Latin America and my teacher taught us Spanish Spanish, not Latin America Spanish. Thanks for the great job you all do for us!

What does Del Taco al Tango mean?
February 9, 2008 from the Web.
Avatar Team
leoguerrero says
Watermen, This is a figurative way to describe Latin American Culture. You should know Taco is from Mexico, and well the dance "Tango" comes from Argentina. So the phrase literally means, "From Taco to Tango". But it's a way to say that it's a show about all of the culture going from Mexico all the way to Argentina, which covers all of Latin America.

Léo, Del Taco al Tango sounds also like a gentle spoonerism with Taco-Bell (yuk!). ;)

bbjt Del Taco al Tango title is a way of saying we cover topics from where TACOS come from that is MEXICO all the way to where del TANGO is from Argentina, meaning the tip of South America.

Hola a todos,

I thought the Introduction to SpanishPod:

http://spanishpod.com/lessons/introduction-to-spanishpod

published on November 9, 2007 was the first spanishpod lesson. Certainly it's the first lesson showing up. But in this podcast JP mentions " the old 'spanishsense' " at 1:52. I found some comments that predate nov 9, 2007 such as this one from october 17:

http://spanishpod.com/community/conversations/post/180

and some of adri's such as this one from Sept 25:

http://spanishpod.com/community/conversations/post/177

which is listed as being under the spanishpod banner but has a link to:

http://spanishsense.com/learnspanish/shapes/discussion

which is now broken.

Clearly lvalmoria's comment above:

"it's good to see Adri still with us"

shows that there was a show, namely spanishsense, that predated this one. Was it like a beta site that was gaining interest in Spanish before setting off into a full on launch? Were there podcasts? ..is it all gone now? What's the story?

hmm, looks like from this review there were daily podcasts:

"Great

By far the best site I ever found for learning Spanish. It gives you a new podcast every day about a wide range of subjects, from how to order food on the phone to the Spanish version of "no returns for promotional items"... You'll even find people on the "Connect" section discussing how to say "a double-cheese pizza" in Spanish! And best of all, you can participate in the forum even with a free account. Great!

Reviewed on 5/25/2007 "

...whatever happened to them?

wonder if this was the first one, from March 27th, 2007:

newbie..starting a phonecall...but the link is broken

spanishsense mentioned here in CPod's N&F:

http://chinesepod.com/lessons/whats-hot-in-chinesepod-and-spanishsense-this-week

oh well, just curious on the origins. There's more than enough in the SpanishPod archives.
