Nobody likes to be injured, and when a star player is unable to play, everyone is disappointed... except for maybe the opposing team. In this lesson, we'll hear how our friend is dealing with an ankle injury, how he's doing, and how long he's on the bench.

Tengo dos preguntas. In the podcast, toward the end, Liliana talks about fútbol games as an excuse for a party, especially "cuando es una fiesta de _______, de tu pais...." I keep listening to this sentence, but I still have no idea what the missing word is. It sounds like oo-roo-yoh. ????

My other question concerns a word I hear a lot on a Spanish radio station when they talk about los deportes. They keep using the word "technico," but I don't understand what that means in a sports context. I'd love it if someone could explain this.

Muchas gracias de antemano.

cyberdiva,

That word you're looking for is "orgullo;" it means "pride." So Lili was talking about those big national games where the whole country unites to cheer on their national team.

As for your second question, I will let the latinos answer that one!

Muchísimas gracias, JP. "Orgullo" is a word I recognize when I see it in print, but obviously not when I hear it said. With any luck, from now on I will!
