No sabía que estuvieses enfermo.

No sabía que estuvieras enfermo.

Is there a difference??

Gracias

Hola

In the recording, I heard Lilly gives the following two examples:

Te he dicho que no tomaras mucho

Te he dicho que no lo hagas

tomaras and hagas are in different tenses of the subjunctive

My assumption is that you would change the tense depending on the meaning of the sentence but could you please confirm to me why the different tenses?

Thanks

La pregunta del día:

¿Qué remedio casero usas más?

What home remedy do you use most use?

Cuando estoy resfriada, suelo comer limones enteros uno tras otro.

Whenever I catch a cold, I often eat entire lemons one after the other.

Carmen,

¡Muy interesante! ¿Por qué limones y no naranjas? ¿Le gustan los limones?

¡Correcciónes, por favor! ¡Gracias!

¿Se puede decir:  No sabía que estás enfermo (I didn’t know you’re sick), o No sabía que estabas enfermo (I didn’t know you were sick)?

Supongo que la pregunta realmente es ésta:  siempre necesito usar el subjuntivo en la cláusula siguiente (después de “no sabía que …”) cuando la cláusula describa algo de verdad (no dudosa).

Gracias.

ANABARFA

The difference is this:

  1. Te he dicho que no lo hicieras.
  2. Te he dicho que no lo hagas.

Basically in the first one, he has already DONE it, so I couldn´t avoid it.

In the second example. He hasn´t done it yet, so I am telling him not to do it, so there is still the possibility that he won´t do it, is an action that hasn´t passed.

Is this clear?

Let me know.

  2. Te he dicho que no lo hagas.

Lei su explicacion sobre la diferencia, pero todavia no es claro a mi. Pienso en la primera caso, seria "te habia hecho..."
