This is the very worst I've ever heard (in English): - Are these space pants? - Why? - Because your *$$ is out of this world I doubt there is an equivalent in Spanish, as it is so gross.

this presentation and comments are cracking me up (amusing me very much). Here's a rude one, the kind of thing that's less a priopo than what in American English is a "cat call." It's the kind of thing un borracho might say to a woman passing him on the sidewalk. Or a rude high school boy to a girl walking by in the hallway that he's afraid to speak to, so he pretends to be macho and growls, "¡Cúrame, mamacita! But now we're sinking lower on the social scale than these pretty-sounding priopos. Pues, andan coquetean, todos... I think I got my verb endings wrong. Correction invited. nice

True! in Mexico sometimes construction workers often scream the most disturbing "piropos" to girls walking in the street, but this podcast is rated PG13 lol. Yardbird you can say "pues todos andan coqueteando."

Liliana, Sorry about the R-rated priopo. And thank you for reminding me of the grammar. "Go ahead flirting." Yes, now I remember.
December 14, 2007 from the Web.
bababardwan says

"¡Cúrame, mamacita! "

I would translate as:

"heal me, mummy"

...I think I must be missing something because that and "go ahead flirting" aren't anywhere near R rated in my book. What have I missed?

Yardbird no worries! In fact it is a very common word to say "mamacita" which means like little mom, but it means something like "hottie." Very used in Latin America and Mexico, but be careful how to use it!

Another new piropo "y mi mama decía que los monumentos no se movían" meaning "my Mom used to say that monuments do not move." This is an original "pirpopo" men tell the ladies while they walk by. I think it's funny.

Hola,

I'm still rather new at this, having only been involved for a couple of weeks but I really like the way things are structured.  I have also noticed I can't get some of the .pdf copies of the dialogs and it would be good to know how to get some of the audio files into my podcast area.

Muchas gracias, Bob

Welcome Bob!

Re getting the audio files as podcasts, under the lesson picture you can "bookmark" the lesson.  Then cut and paste the RSS Lesson Feed (on the right hand side of the "me" section) to your ipod or wherever.

Hope that helps.

bobgs,

Also just want to mention that there are no PDF's for the Del Taco al Tangos since they are not lessons.

By the way, if you have any other trouble with downloads etc, just go to "contact us" located at the bottom of the page and the staff will respond to your needs.

Hola kikuyu y rachaelt,

Thanks so much for your inputs.  Like I said, I'm slowly learning my way around here and these kind of inputs really help.  Me gusto mucho "Del Taco al Tango y La Clave" and I'm sure the more time I spend here, the easier it will be to get around. I won't hesitate in the future to use all the contacts, they appear to work really well.

I gotta go.  I just saw a couple of items I have some experience with: El Salvador y Pedro Almodovar.

Muchas gracias para todos y hasta la proxima, just bob

I may very well be wrong, but i suspect poco inhibidos could be understood  as "uninhibited" ie only inhibited a little, rather than the understatement you were going for.

My attempt would be:

we tend solemos to be ser somewhat algo shy/inhibited cohibidos and we dont lower the/our guard y no bajamos la guardia readily con facilidad

nice to see people having a go,  i can attest that it gets easier every time.

I don't feel like doing a deja-vu, so I'll just say thanks for the help, and I hope this "disappearing post"-phenomenon is a one-time thing. It could possibly be an error on my part too, we'll never know.

Hi

Sometimes this type of show does not have transcripts because some of the users listen to the lessons and make them themselves.

We encourage students to try their best and practice their hearing comprehension.

The English Pyrope [magnesium aluminium garnet] also comes from the Latin pyropus which was a mixture of gold bronze [bronze being mostly copper], but that comes from the Greek pyr...fire, and op...eye...so means "fire eyed" [jeje, yeah, passion].
