20 years ago we didn't even know what a cell phone was. Now we can't live without it.

Do you have a cell phone? How many calls per day do you do on your cell phone?

I received my first cell phone two years ago.  Even though I don't make many calls, I use it for many other things.

I don’t like talking on the telephone.  My partner gave me an iphone, but I only use it to listen to music and spanishpod!

Batería vs. Pila

- El coche se ha quedado sin batería. = Car's battery went dead.

= Charge the cell phone, it has no battery.

= The remote control has not batteries.

- La linterna funciona con pilas. = The torch runs on batteries.

= UNA PILA.

= UNA BATERÍA DE COCHE.

Una pregunta:

Hola anbarfa.

The verb haber has tons of uses.

It is the helping verb "to have" used with other verbs.
It can be used in place of "tener que" as "haber de"
It is also the 3rd verb "to be" when used alone, like "there is" or "there are" or "there was".

In this case you have it by itself in the future tense.

What will there be?

anbarfa, if you want to say "What it will happen?" in Spanish, you should say "¿Qué pasará?".

"Qué habrá"  has the meaning of ¨what it will be?¨, for example, ¿qué habrá para cenar? ¿qué habrá en la tele? What it will be for dinner? What it will be on tv?

It seems because of anbarfa suggestion for the extra use of the telephone I will be retiring my IPod a bit and using the telephone a lot more for listening to the pods.

Esti thanks a lot for the uses of pila and batería that will enhance the meaning of both.

MM i guess telephones will be put as sun glasses with everything in them as in science fiction (watching movies while waiting for the bus), if you think about it even keyboards will be extinct in few years thanks to sound recognition, maybe they will invent something to trace eye beams ;)

I like the idea of mulipurpose sunglasses but am pretty sure there are no beams from the eyes and so they will have to invent another way to tell where you are looking. I  hope theyll be cheaper than varifocals

Is it that a batería is rechargable and a pila is not?

You use it for the cell phone and I clearly do NOT have a lead acid battery in my phone.
