Lesson Introduction
¡Feliz Navidad! Today's lesson is about Christmas gifts, and who brings them. Many Latinos now celebrate Christmas with Santa Claus, but the traditional gift givers in the Spanish-speaking world are usually the Three Wise Men, who arrive on January 6th, for the Día de los reyes (Feast of the Epiphany). Since the Wise Men arrive on with their animals, you may see your young Latino friends leaving out water for the camels; all that gift-giving can make any you thirsty!

(I waited for you all day)
- repetitive actions: Yo estornudaba todo el día. (I was sneezing all day)
(As kids we used to wait for Christmas with a lot of excitement).
So to answer your question, yes, you can replace "solía esperar" with "esperaba" in the dialog. However, the verb "soler" only covers the habitual aspect of the past, and not the continuous or repetitive. Hope that helps!

Khin, I think this is what you are trying to say:
Today is my best friends birthday. Although I feel sick, I have to go to her party. There is no way I can not go.
