Hola todos...

Today in our dialog, a couple of teenagers are leaving a note to mom.  What about you?  Do you tend to be a note leaver?  An emailer?  A texter?  Or would you rather call and leave a voice mail?

¿Prefieres escribir una notita, mandar un e-mail, escribir un mensajito?  ¿O prefieres llamar por teléfono y dejar un recado?  Would you rather write a note, send an email, or write a text message?  ¿Or would you rather call and leave a message?

Yo prefiero mandar e-mail, pero mando muchos mensajitos también.  No me gusta llamar por teléfono.  I prefer to send email, but I send a lot of text messages, too.  I don't like calling on the phone.

Me gustan escribir notas, se me hacen más personales, pero si no me gusta enviar emails.

I like to write notes, I think they are more personal, otherwise I like to send emails.

what on earth is the backstory for this lesson. i get that leos voice is breaking because hes supposed to be a teenager but is the woman who has come to see his mother in tears or pain or suffering from a heavy cold? it all sounds very stressful
lilliana " the son talking to the dad to get an insight into his mother?" so that was his father? im very confused. is this part of a series and all will be revealed in future podcasts? (perhaps in an elementry lesson so people have to sign up)

no esta mi mama ¿would you like to know more?

Donperigo, I thought it was supposed to be two kids -- they go to little Leo's house to ask permission to go to the Lucha Libre, say.  Since Little Leo's mother isn't home, Little Esti suggests leaving a note for her and suggests the wording of the note.

But now that I think of it, maybe the weird voice Esti is using is meant to be masculine.  Maybe Esti is trying to sound like a man!

Hola todos

donperigo, I think that the comment that Lili made was referring to the person requesting the lesson about leaving a note...

"the son talking to the dad to get an insight into his mother?"

also, Leo sounded so funny with his teenager voice-it sounded to me like Esti was trying not to laugh!

Pero, quien sabe?

Love to visit your site and thanks for the lesson for today. It gave me a total understanding of the whole script but I prefer to have the word be put on the screen as well,to make it clear to the listeners who can't quickly grasped the word fully. Hope you don't mind....

Muchos gracias,

Liliana&vikia:

Me gustan escribir notas/email, ...

I like to write notes/email,...

Creo que la forma (más) correcta es: Me gusta escribir notas/email.

I think the (more) correct form is: I like to write notes/email.

martinillo, stevestrv

if a person is saying "I like coffee and tea" then we use "me gustan cafe y te" because gustar is referring to the object and if it is plural, gustar is plural. if the person says "I like coffee" they would use "me gusta cafe" because coffee is referring to one thing.

So I think "me gustan escribir notas (plural) /email" es la forma correcta...

que se parecen?

I totally agree with mztich  that “Me gusta café y té is correct.  But I do not think that it is the notas that you like, or that please you, it is escribir notas.  And with verbs you use the singular of gustar.

To me, "me gusta escribir notas" is like saying "me gusta nadar"

Me gustan escribir emails, pero mi hija no tiene una computadora personel, solamente una computadora a su trabajor. Jajaja.

Pregunta: "Déjale una nota - Leave her a note" in the expansion portion. How do you know that the note is for a female person? Does it depend on the context or would there be a different way to say "Leave him a note".

Pregunta no. 2: I am presently going over previous Newbie lessons. In the "Want to share" vocabulary portion "el titular" is written "el tutilar". I noticed that someone had already mentioned this in the Discussion portion in November. It is December and it is still not corrected. So my question is - do you make corrections to previous material and inform the Newbies?

suz333,

Hola, I think it is all about context.  But to make sure you are clear when speaking you could say: "Déjale una nota a ella".  "Leave a note for her"

Also, to answer your second question, the staff at Spanishpod ask us to use the "Contact Us" which is located at the bottom of every page to report any errors, bugs, problems, suggestions etc..

We do our best to keep the content error free, but the occasional error does evade our scrutiny.  If you spot 'em, we'll correct 'em!
