The Rosca de Reyes is a traditional cake eaten in Mexico during the holidays. Inside there are some small plastic dolls that you have to be careful not to swallow! Successfully avoiding choking isn't even the end of it - if you end up with a doll in your piece, you have to throw a party for your friends and family!

I love the rosca de reyes, they are not too sweet and not too salty, we all gather around waiting to see who got the monito, the small plastic doll.

Me recuerdo cuando, vivia en una pais donde cada persona no podia esperar para llevar a juicio a su vecino. Escondiamos un monedo de seis peniques en un pudín navideño pero ahora necesitamos ir al extranjero si nos quisieramos atragantar con nuestra comida.

Todavia es un dia especial, es epifania. Os vikingos debeis haber prestado más atención al cristianismo que os trajimos. No es solo una excusa para fiestas y cenas grandes

Si verdad, donperigo, y también en Italia es el día en que la Befana (un tipo de bruja buena, un "Santa Claus", digamos) viene de visita a los niños para regalarles juguetes y dulces. Antes no había dado cuenta que 'Befana' está relacionado con 'epifanía'. Interesante!

Es triste porque no tenemos esos tipos de tradiciones en mi casa o mi familia. Cuando yo soy un adulto, voy a ir y empezar algo, y quizas, voy a comenzar con un rosca de reyes. Primero, tengo que buscar un novia, y hacer bebes, y todo eso. :o)

¿Madi Gras y Rosca de Reyes? La encontre´ en el paquete de la Madi Gras en un supermercado en Tejas. El paquete tuvo un monito. La compre´ y comi y me gusta.

In Spain, the difference is that the Rosca de Reyes is super sweet, fully coated with white sugar. And there's no such thing as 'monito' hidden inside.
