Newbie - It's not me!

One time on the subway I saw someone who I thought was my friend Mike. It was too crowded to go over to him, so I was just smiling and waving at him until we reached our stop. I couldn't understand why he didn't wave back. I approached him and I only realized that it wasn't him when I was 2 feet from him. I said"I'm sorry! I thought you were my friend Mike!" and he said "well my name is Mike". How weird!

Have you ever mistaken one person for someone else?

I have. It was very embarrassing because I hugged the guy..jejeje.. turns out it was someone else.

Me pasó. Fue muy penoso porque abrace al tipo...jajaja...resulta que era otra persona.

A mí me sucedió una vez algo muy penoso.

Entraba yo en un restaurante cuando ví a mi amigo sentado con su novia,rápidamente le dije hola y a la novia (que estaba de espaldas y que yo también la conocía) le tapé los ojos y le dije :¿A qué no adivinas quién soy? De repente le quito las manos y le miro a la cara y no era mi amiga.¡Resulta que el tipo andaba con otra! ¡¡¡¡Qué verguenza!!!! Dije : Ay perdón y me fuí de ahí al instante y lo más triste sin comer.

Un día hace muchos años fui a la biblioteca pública buscandolo de varios datos. Vine a la mesa armada de libros, y de pronto estaba ensimismado. Unos minutos despues me elevé los ojos al mismo tiempo del hombre de frente al otro lado de la mesa. Nuestras bocas abriraban al mismo instanté. Es como estaba un espejo al centra de la mesa.

One day many years ago, I went to the public library to look for some information.  I came to the table armed with books and soon was lost in thought. Some minutes later, I raised my eyes at the same instant as the guy across from me. Our jaws dropped in the same instant. It was like there was a mirror down the center of the table.

You can blame James Cameron for "no problemo" as john conner teaches the terminator to say both this, and that well known spanish phrase "hasta la vista baby". perhaps it was ok in the nineties.

En los ochenta, solia andar a casa, cada tarde y, de vez en cuando, el dueño del bar de nuestro barrio me veia andando y me llevaba a casa en su coche.

In the eighties, I used to walk home every evening and, from time to time, the owner of the pub in our village would see me walking and would give me a lift in his car.

Un dia, vi "este" coche esperando por al lado de la calle, abrí la puerta de copiloto y entré dentro. había una mujer desconocida que gritó en terror. Me alegro mucho de que no permitan la gente llevar pistolas en este país.

One day, I saw "this" car waiting by the side of the street, opened the passenger door and jumped inside. there was an unknown woman who screamed in terror. I am so glad they dont allow people to carry guns in this country.

Esa es una frase bastante útil, no la sabía antes. Parece la linea famosa de Travis Bickle en Taxi Driver:  You talkin' to me? 

That is a very useful phrase; I didn't know it before. It looks like Travis Bickle's famous line in Taxi Driver:  You talkin' to me?

Me sorprendió que el hombre dijo "¿es conmigo?".  Habría creído que él habría dicho "¿está conmigo?"  porque la frase completa es "¿está hablando conmigo?  ¿No?
It surprised me that the man said "¿es conmigo?".  I would have thought that he would have said "¿está conmigo"  because the complete phrase is "¿está hablando conmigo?  . Isn't it?

Una vez en Londres, al salir del dentista, vi a una conocida al otro lado de la calle y le saludé pero en realidad me equivoqué: no era una amiga sino que Sarah Ferguson, la duquesa de York!
