Ah, the age question. It's not so cute anymore, now that you can't answer by holding up fingers. In this lesson, we'll learn how to immediately follow the age question with a compliment, just to take the sting out of it. Find out how to give your age... or lie about your age... in Spanish.

No puedo creerlo y las otras personas tampoco pero la verdad es que tengo sesenta anos. Me siento mucho mas joven que eso y mi mejor amigo tiene cuarenta. Despues de todo no tengo mas que treinta anos ( por la segunda vez)...

Y yo tengo 24 anos, pero me siento como si tuviera 18. A veces estoy muy infantil, jeje. En cuanto a las mujeres y la cuestion de edad, parece que es lo mismo en todo el mundo. Que injusto! Las jovencitas si que son hermosas, pero a veces no se puede ver ningun caracter en sus caras. Miran a Cate Blanchett, a Shirley MacLaine, a Judy Dench, a Catherine Hepburn, a Susan Sarandon! Son (o eran) mucho mas interesantes cuando tienen mas que 35 anos que cuando eran muy jovenes. Y son tan hermosas y inteligentes, no? Creo que las mujeres tambien (como los hombres) son como vino: cuanto mas viejo, mas bueno. Lo importante es (como dice el abuelo de Geoo) que la mente sigua siendo joven, entonces el cuerpo tambien parece juventil y hermoso. Y ustedes que opinan? (Eso es un siguiente mensaje demasiado largo... :( Porque)

Ahora mismo, yo tengo 63 años, y voy a alcancar 64 en Abríl. As a Beatles fan from the long ago days of Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, I can't help singing in my head "Will you still need me, will you still feed me, when I'm 64." Casi todos de mis beun amigos son mÁs joven que yo, también. Ay, ¡tan rapidamente vuele la vida! Spanish question: I learned the verb alcancar when translating a line of dialogue del cuento do Jorge Luís Borges llamado "El Otro." Am I using it correctly to say "attain" an age? If I didn't know that word, I would have used "llegar a la edad de 64." Is this a good alternative?

Totalmente de acuerdo, un hombre cuarentón con canas es sexy, pero una mujer cuarentona... es vieja. Pues ¡no! No estoy de acuerdo, las mujeres cuarentonas también pueden ser sexys, y los hombres cuarentones también pueden ser viejos. Todo depende del ojo con el que se mire, y de la edad mental de uno.

yo tengo doce anos, Hola, I am new to this website but im not new to learning espanol. =) Im learning spanish because I want to get really good grades when im in high school, and because I wanna be a speech patholigist when I grow up ( and spanish would be a very good tool). I think I know alot of spanish for my age, and it is fun to learn how to speak it too. =] I also have a pentop computer that translates for me when I get stuck. Are there any people my age on this website?
