Honest to goodness, I am telling you the truth. Humberto, however, may be another story. In today's lesson, we hear that Humberto may be into one of his old tricks again: making statements that are somewhat less than true. We hope that you're own Spanish language learning experience won't have this level of drama, but if it does, you'll be prepared!

En inglés solemos usar un sustantivo cuando queremos decir que una persona es mentiroso; por ejemplo: "He's a liar." Liar es un sustantivo. Pero en español se dice así: "Es mentiroso," lo que es un adjetivo. No tenemos un adjetivo así en inglés, pero una aproximación sería "he is dishonest." Pregunta del día: ¿Qué le recomendarías a la señorita que hicera? ¿Quedarse callada? ¿Enfrentarse a Humberto? ¿Decírselo todo a Claudia? ¿Qué harías tú en su lugar?

Opino lo mismo que Estibalitz, pero a veces es malo decirle a otra persona que alguien esta mintiendo porque puede ser que no te crean y después pierdas una amistad. Mejor no me meto en asuntos que no son míos, pero Hector si se merece una bofetada.

No tengo ninguna recomendacion por la senorita. No me gusta aconsejar a los otros. Suelo meterme en mis "asuntos " (no se si es la palabra correcta) y dejar los otros con los suyos.

Donde yo vivo hay pocos secretos porque la palabra viaja rápido en una isla pequeña. Humberto no podía salirse con ese comportamiento sin consequencia. (Instant karma)

No escuché ninguna ardilla listada en el ipod de mí. (Así enfatizo que habla de mi iPod y no de ipod ajeno.) Bueno... opino que sería mejor si la señorita hablara directamente con Humberto, y denpendiendo de lo que dijera... quizas se mereciera una bofetada. (Umph! el subjuntivo sigue matándome!!)

paulohenriques, Chipmunks is podcast talk for audio that plays at abnormally fast speed; (compare "Alvin and the...") It's my job to hunt down any chipmunks and manage the mischief, so if any of them slip past me, I do appreciate the chipmunk alert!

No entiendo bien la palabra enganar. Significa "to mislead" pero las oraciones dice "makes a fool, made a fool". Es la definicion incorrecto?

dear willig, "engañar" can mean both. What's more, it can also mean to cheat or to be unfaithful to someone.

Tengo muchos problemas con este. El dialogo es incomprehensible. Es como una listada o ardilla - muy, muy rapido. Es la sola lecion que es asi. ?Puede ayudarme? Muchas gracias. ?Hay otros estudiantes que tengan problemas?

also, this form:

B:   Sí le creo, no habría porque mentir.

was used in a different section of the lesson.

Nathanwagar, creo que "porque"  falta el acento.  I think it is missing the accent mark.

con acento quiere decir: reason

No habría porqué mentir.

There wouldn't be reason to lie

Me gusta en este leccion que uds hablaron de la diferencia de "creer" y "creerse". 

 

Hice un eqivocado y dice creerse y mi esposa me dijo que fue muy malo.

Tengo una pregunta! Lili decia que la reputation aún es muy importante en la sociedad latino. ¿Es verdad respecto a los jovenes asimismo? ¿Tenian ellos un poco diferente idea en qué consiste una buena reputación, o en cambio están de acuerdo con sus mayores?
