From what I just read, this language isn't associated at all with other indo-european languages? 

Esti, which dialect of Basque do you speak?  Also do most of the people where you grew up speak both Spanish and Basque?  What happens if you go to a dinner and 7 of the 8 people speak Basque and one only speaks Spanish?  Do you all turn to Spanish? :)

Most of the people I grew up with are bilingual. If you go to a dinner where there is one who only speaks Spanish, we all will speak in Spanish, this is not a big deal, Basque people are very polite. And, yes, can you believe that still nobody knows where this language comes from? Amazing. And not, it is not related to any Indo-european language.
