In our culture it is normal and acceptable if you flirt.
Yo soy una coqueta por naturaleza. Mi mamá siempre me decía que jugaba a coqueter con mi Barbie y mi Ken. jejeje. En nuestra cultura es normal coquetear, obviamente sin pasar esa línea a lo vulgar. Creo que coquetear es un don que las mujeres deben utilizar, es romántico y divertido. Se tiene que hacer con cuidado porque después pueden haber malentendidos.
I am a flirt by nature. My Mom used to tell me that I even played flirting games with my Barbie and Ken hehehe. In our culture is common to flirt, without crossing the line andbeingvulgar. I think flirting is something women should use, it is romantic and fun. It has to be done very carefully if not there can bemisunderstanding.
At 5.58 Lily says, "So you can see, how can you use it." instead of "So you can see how you can use it."
Does this come from something like -- Asi usted puede ver cómo puede usarse. or Asi puedes ver cómo puedes usarte. ???
I too find slips in other peoples english very educational as they usually indicate habits we should be trying to form however here, i think its just the dreaded english word order at work
Puede(s) = "you can" and "can you"
starting a phrase with "how" probably suggests/triggers a word order swap to lilly even though one isnt needed here because its not a question.
im not sure your second sentence isnt a little risqué
:-) id try something like puedes usarlo or "se lo puede usar" if you want a more general "you". its interesting how lilly still gets the objects in the right order despite having a choice in spanishCobre
What I meant is this:
"Asi ustedes pueden ver cómo puede usarse."
"Asi ustedes pueden ver cómo se puede usar."

As DP noted, the way native speakers use English is an interesting clue about the way those of us with an English bias, might best approach phrasing our thoughts in another tongue. It was true when I learned Swedish years ago and is still a great tool.
Por lo general coquetear es divertido y saludable. lo que no me gusta es cuando se use para manipular a alguien con celos o deseo.
No creo que sea aceptable que una mujer engatuse a un hombre para que le compre algo (o para ella o de ella) aunque entiendo que, a menudo él sí que quiere un oportunidad para impactarla (en más maneras que uno.)
Usually flirting is fun and healthy. What I dislike is when it is used to manipulate someone with jealousy or desire.
I do not think that is acceptable for a woman to sweet talk a man into buying something (either for her or from her) though I understand that often he really wants a chance to impress her (in more ways than one.)
Minor nit: The audio around 04:02 says "tienes" is third person which is incorrect. ("tienes" is familiar second person). Not a big deal - but pointing out so any really newbie newbies aren't left dazed and confused. :-)

Interesting contrast between estar and ser in this lesson. In the dialogue we have this sentence:
¡Está buenísimo!
And in the Expansion Section, we have this one:
Mi novio es muy tímido.
It's as if we recognize that 'hotness' is transient, easily changed by a few pounds, a few years or even a bad haircut. The guy looks hot at this moment. But being timido speaks to one's basic personality. I suppose you could say:
Mi novio está muy tímido.
... if you were talking about a particular situation, say at dinner with los suegros. ¿o no es así?

Me reí mucho con los ejemplos que pones.Efectivamente el estar ¨bueno¨ puede variar muy rápidamente con unas libras de más o con un mal corte de pelo. Y el estar ¨tímido¨ puede también variar dependiendo de la situación en la que nos encontremos.Es por eso que utilizamos el verbo ¨estar¨.
Para usar el verbo¨ser¨ nos debemos basar en características permanentes o que describan a una persona o cosa.
¿Qué te parece esta oración?
