Elementary - Fishy

Voy a eschuchar a JP y Esti durante unos 350 más lecciones después de que se fueran (tengo que alcanzar).

Eso, no me cuadra.  Va a parecerme raro.

Que quiro decir:

I am going to listen to JP and Esti for some 350 more lessons after they are gone (I have to catch up).

That doesn't seem right.  It will feel strange to me.

Pues en mi caso, creo que puedo leer bien a la gente, pero muchas veces me equivoco por eso mejor no llegar a conclusiones antes de tiempo.

In my case, I think I can read people pretty well, but sometimes I am wrong, so sometimes is better not to jump to conclusions.

no me cuadra = doesnt "square" with me? perhaps certainly how i'll remember it.

un gato encerrado doesnt necessarily smell of fish but it certainly smells. I shall certainly use this.

When i listened to last weeks que pasa i thought this was going to be  a lesson containing the phrase
te conozco bacalado aunque vengas disfrazado
which I've never managed to drop into the conversation. (till now)

donperigo, if I had a cold, I would go home from work, so as to not infect my co-workers.  Unlike SOMEONE I know....

JP happy to hear it, you sounded a bit gruffer than ususal there. have just noticed i seem to have a bit of a sniffle. maybe i should have the day off, it wont look at all suspicious if i tag a couple of days onto my holiday will it :-)

donperigo, I checked my calendar for the day we recorded this lesson... I wasn't sick and I hadn't done anything strenuous with my voice around then.  Maybe just a frog in my throat :)

It does not seem right to me. I suspect something. Something smells fishy to me.. My friend is acting strange with me.

En me caso, puedo leer bien me amigo.

In my case I can read pretty well my friend.

Los gatos no comen pezcato?  Porque me tia tiene una gata, y casa de ella huele con "Tuna Pez".

This dialouge fits, because when the problem is discovered we say, the cat is out of the bag!

Favor de explicar la diferencia entre creer y pensar.  ¿Porqué se dice "No crees" en vez de "No piensas"?  o se puede usar los dos?

Even though creer and pensar are often both translated as "think" in English and there is some overlap in their use, here's how I distinguish them:

Pensar is used when you are talking about cogitation, wheels turning in the head kind of thinking:  Piénsalo bien. [Think about it carefully]

Creer is used to mean "it seems to me" as in the dialogue:  No crees que Pepito está raro? [Doesn't it seem to you that Pepito is acting odd?]

Creer is also used, of course, to express belief, to accept the truth of a proposition:  Lo creo [I believe it/him]

I think this was a Pa' que sepas question a while back -- maybe someone else can remember the exact lesson.  Anyway, I hope this helps a little:-)

You know that expression "gato encerrado" has really amused me 'coz here in Russia we have another one with the same meaning - a dog which is buried.. Yours seems more humane :)
