Today on the big video podcast, we're reviewing "el pluscuamperfecto," the Spanish pluperfect. We'll take a look at how to form it and when to use it. In addition, Esti will take us through a slide show, and we'll get a chance to guess what had happened, and hear "el pluscuamperfecto" in context.

tseanr, cobre tiene razón, it's a long, sad story.

Leo coined "Jotapito" as an affectionate form of "jota pe" two winters ago. That lasted for about a month or so, and then it started to change to 'pito,' which seems to have stuck.

A few months ago, Leo started calling me "pita" which is the Greek pocket bread, but the girls wouldn't go along with that, so at work it's still "pito."

However, around that time is when I started hanging out with the people in my jazz ensemble and their friends, and they caught wind that I was called "pita." So they still call me that, I think Pedro has it programmed into his phone.

I also have a collection of teacher nicknames (V, Villi, Mr. V. Big Villy, Señor V, profesor, etc.) and a fraternity nickname from college that will not be shared on the gentle discussion page of SpanishPod.com... :)

You can use comerse when the food item can be identified. In this case "las papas". You could also use comer here instead.

When you speak in terms like "meat" or "fish" then you can't use comerse, you have to use comer. This general way of speaking doesn't quantify the food item.
