En cuyo caso la construcción ir + a + inf sería inútil porque siempre se habla de eventos que ya no han pasado. También el futuro simple habla del futuro y nadie (salva dios) sabe lo que trae el futuro.
Sin embargo, podemos decir que voy a comprar algo mañana o iré a ver lo mañana  o iré al supermercado mañana etc. Pero podríamos morir ahora mismo. (esperemos que no)

Reglas de incertidumbre etc. Son muy inexactos y  engañosos. Aunque es imposible saber el futuro podemos creer lo que va a pasar.
Muchas veces se puede comunicar la mismisima información en el modo indicativo, o el modo subjuntivo. En la mayoria de las veces es la construcción del frase entero que requiera que se use una conjugación subjuntiva del verbo.

There is no doubt here.  That's why the infinitive is used, and not the subjunctive. 

Just like if I tell you tomorrow's going to be a great day, same thing if they tell you what's going to happen next week.  It's a given that they know what they're talking about, at least for those that believe.

Also sdutch:  you used the subjunctive twice in your explanation, this is infinitive too.

There isn't any doubt here either.  This is a rule that you were taught.  Infinitive.
