Solo una pequeñita pregunta: ¿no sera mas correcto decir "yo pondré el nacimiento" en vez de "pongo"' puesto que el sentido es del futuro??

Las dos formas son aceptadas.Cuando utilizas el presente para hablar de futuro es porque es un hecho de que lo pondrás ,es seguro.

You have “le” at the end of “comprar”. Is this referring to the fact that we are buying something new [ decorations ] FOR IT [ the xmas tree ] each year ?

"Solo faltan los regalos"...se puede decir "solo faltamos los regalos?" Es decir, "we are only missing the presents"? Or does faltan refer to the presents? Which would translate more like "only the presents are missing."

Correcto.Ese ¨le¨ significa¨al arbolito¨ We try to buy something new for it every year.And we place this ¨le¨ at the end because ¨comprar ¨is in infinitive form.
Ejemplo:
Yo le compro cosas nuevas cada año.( comprar está conjugado,entonces el pronombre complemento va delante)
Yo suelo comprarle cosas nuevas cada año.(comprar está en infinitivo,el pronombre complemento va al final formando una sola palabra)

When we have "Vas a poner árbol de navidad", why is there no article before the noun "árbol" ?

Just a quick note:
In the Key vocabulary under "la luz", I think that should say "light" instead of lights.
Have put this in due to the fact that the plural of "luz" is "luces" and may confuse beginners, otherwise.

En este caso ponemos solamente árbol porque nos referimos a uno en general,no especificamos cuál.Si ponemos ¨el árbol¨ estamos diciendo el árbol que ya tienes,el de siempre ,el tuyo.¿Comprendido?
