Pasa a por los niños is incorrect, you are already using one preposition which is POR. No need for two.
So pasa por los niños is correct.

So, if this verb \'pasar\' can mean \'to happen\' as well as \'to spend (time)\'. Is it better to say:
\"¿Pasaste un buen fin de semana?\" (Did you have a good weekend?)
or
\"Te pasó un buen fin de semana?\" (Did a good weekend happen to you?\"
