Tapar -- I was befuddled at first, but then I realized I was confusing "tapar" with "topar" which we had in the directions lesson a few weeks ago!

btw, the flavor of this caldo was amazing AMAZING. I was actually not that excited about this recipe until I put that spoon in my mouth...

FYI, I think the type of sqash we used here is called "Magda squash" a Mediterranean variety of zuchinni squash available here. However, I'm sure any variety of squash would be delicous in this caldo....
Hello, I had never heard of the term "papa" before for potatoes. I have heard of "patata". I looked it up in my English/Spanish dictionnary which gives both "papa" (f) and "patata" (f) (Spain). I noticed when doing the vocabulary exercise that when I went over the word "papa" it had it as a masculine noun? Should it not be feminine? In French Canada we use the term "patate" but the term "pomme de terre" is also used. This would translate to "earth apple".

The problem might be that la papa means the potato (feminine) and El papa means the pope (masculine). And of course papá is father. See wordreference.
suz333, you have discovered a regional variation! In Europe, we use the word "la patata" (as in "tortilla de patata), but in Latin America, we use "la papa" (as in "puré de papa."
Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed the recipe. For those who like picante. I'll recommend you to use a chipotle pepper in the soup, it will give it more flavor and that little spicy touch that a lot of people love.

Otro receta magnifica!! He hecho todo de las recetas y son muy, muy bueno (y facíl, tambien). Los frijoles refritos y el guacamole son alimentos basicos en mi casa ahora, especialmente para desayuna con huevos y tortillas con queso.
No puedo esperar a probar este receta. Voy a probar ellos con los chipotles que Leo recomendó.

Que bueno que le gusto el caldo a tu novia. Es muy nutritivo y bueno para la salud.
Ahora, en realidad no existe una diferencia clara entre el caldo y la sopa. Lo que si te puedo decir es que caldo se traduce mas como "broth" y sopa como "soup". Pero hay muchas situaciones en los que el caldo es tambien "soup". Por lo que no te debes de romper mucho la cabeza. Tómalos como sinónimos.
