Acabo de pasar el fin de semana en Shanghai. Me encanta esta ciudad. Sé que es una ciudad grandote pero esperaba a ver a JP, Leo, Lili o Esti caminando por la calle, tomando un cafecito en Starbucks, o comiendo en un restaurante. !Claro, no vi a nadie! Quizás la proxima vez.....
En abril voy a Brasil. En junio voy a Italia y en agosto voy a China otra vez.
Me gustaria decir muchas gracias para decirme cómo pedir algo educadamente, no solo "quiero algo".
Eso es especialmente importante por que mi esposa y yo viajaremos a espana la primera dos semanas de mayo.

Con respecto a 'deje': Puede que sea razón. (In regard to "deje": You might be right.)
Deje is the 3rd person imperative form of dejar, the usted form, so maybe the sentence is supposed to be a command to leave everything in order.
Perhaps a more experienced member can shed light on this question (and also correct our sentences).
Im with you guys on the missing accent front i suspect a cut and paste error
dejé = i left deje = leave!
im more intigued by the ser-estar choice for "being" correct. I would say that something "es" correct unless you are specifically drawing attention to a particular instance. Even then estar feels wrong to me because This time it really "IS" correct. Aarrggh it messes with my head. Sounds like the sort of thing they could really disagree over in pa que sepas when they get back.
A quick google search reveals discussions in spanish where they say things like
¿es "está correcto" correcto o está "es correcto" correcto?
which is not very helpful.
Also as I'm referring to una palabra, should it be correcta and not correcto?

That seems too contrived to me. If we are looking at an unidentified object we say "¿Qué es eso? and not ¿Qué es esa? because it is a thing (una cosa).

For an unidentified object I believe you're correct. However, in this case the object is not unidentified.
I guess it doesn't really matter. I think I should concentrate on the easy stuff first.

Id have gone with correcto though i cant really say why. Im always a bit suspicious of situations where the gender of an unspoken object is referred to as it calls for a finely tuned sense of telepathy on the part of the listener/reader
e.g.
creo (que) deje está correcta
you say you were referring to la palabra but could you not have been referring to uso de deje which would be masculine or the infected verb form deje itself which, i guess, has no gender
you should certainly modify correct@s to agree for gender and plurality. pero, en este caso, no estoy seguro que sea (esté) correct@ hacer lo/la. :-)

I learn better when i really understand what I´m doing, but your point about going with something even though you don´t know why is a good one. So many times I think I say things just because they sound right. However it´s so good having people that know so much more than me to assist with my learning. Spanishpod is great.

correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to be happyness of/in the pursuit of things that desire vs the enjoyment of things you might recieve.
There is no reason that both cannot apply to the same object, but they are different viewpoints.
