Amor Sin Destino, Episodio 5

Here’s a transcript I wrote out for everyone (well, I did it for myself as well).  I know someone else had done this before (was it you, anna8?) so I apologize if this was your role on SpanishPod, but I thought I’d post this anyway!  Anyway, feel free to point out any errors I made, I'd love the help  :)

Carlota: Pase Señor Ben Ganza.

Ben: Gracias, y usted, ¿cómo se llama?

Carlota: Me llamo Carlota Magdalena, mucho gusto.

Ben: El gusto es mío.  Usted es una mujer hermosa.

Carlota: Ay, Ben, gracias.  ¿Te puedo llamar Ben?

Ben: Me puedes llamar lo que quieras.

Doctor: Señor Ganza, le pido que salga del cuarto, ya que Carlota tiene que descansar.

Ben: No hay problema, hasta pronto hermoso [pero debería ser hermosa or hermosas…].

Carlota: Bye!

Carlota: Doctora, dígame, ¿quién es el gringo?

Doctor: El señor Ganza, es el propietario del hospital, y está metido en negocio de petróleo en el estado de Tejas.  Es un hombre multimillonario. 

Carlota: Mmmm, ¿y está casado?

Doctor: No, es un soltero muy cotizado.

Clavio: Ya hemos sido a todos los lugares donde pensaba encontrarla, y nada, me estoy volviendo loco!

Fernando: Tranquilo, piensa dónde más puede estar. Ya sé, qué tal en el salón de belleza {al que va} [no entendí esto]

Clavio: No creo, pero vamos a ver, es aquí a la izquierda.

Fernando: No, a la derecha.

Clavio: Que no, necio.  Es a la izquierda.

Fernando: Nunca me escuchas, ¿crees que no tengo sentido de orientación?  Es a la derecha.

Clavio: ¡No toques el volante, suéltalo, vas a provocar un accidente!

Fernando: ¡El accidente es haberte conocido!

Clavio: ¡Cuidado!  ¡Noooo!  ¡Crash!

Mis preguntas:

¿Por qué usaron “es” en vez de “está” por las ubicaciones del salón?  Por ejemplo “Es a la derecha” en vez de “Está a la derecha”.

No entender la estructura “haberte conocido” pero la vi en la frase “siento haberte enfadado”, ¿alguien me la puede explicar?

I thought I'd attempt an English translation.  It's sort of a loose translation, I didn't want to do it word for word or it would sound awkward.  Here ya go!

Carlota: Come in Mr. Ben Ganza.

Ben: Thanks, and what’s your name?

Carlota: I’m Carlota Magdalena, nice to meet you.

Ben: The pleasure’s all mine.  You’re a beautiful woman.

Carlota: Eek, Ben, thank you.  Can I call you Ben?

Ben: You can call me whatever you’d like.

Doctor: Mr. Ganza, I ask that you leave the room, so that Carlota can get some rest.

Ben: No problem, see you soon, beautiful.

Carlota: Bye!

Carlota: Doctor, tell me, who’s the gringo?

Doctor: Mr. Ganza, the owner of the hospital, and he’s in the oil business in Texas.  He’s a multimillionaire. 

Carlota: Mmmm, and is he married?

Doctor: No, he’s single and highly sought after.

Clavio: We’ve been everywhere where I thought we’d find her and nothing, I’m going crazy!

Fernando: Calm down, think of where else she may be.  I know, what about in the beauty salon (al que va?!)

Clavio: I don’t think so, but let’s go see, it’s here on the left.

Fernando: No, on the right.

Clavio: No stupid, it’s on the left.

Fernando: You never listen to me, do you think I don’t have a sense of direction?  It’s on the right.

Clavio: Don’t touch the wheel, let it go, you’re going to cause an accident!

Fernando: (I don’t get this one…, perhaps it’s...) The accident’s about to happen!

Clavio: Watch out!  Noooo!  ¡Crash!

Oh, I get it now!  Fernando said "The accident is having met you".  No explanation required, thanks!

And sorry, I wrote Clavio instead of Claudio, jaja

That's the only thing I could think of, that he's saying "a el (salon) que va (ella)" meaning "to the one that she goes to".  If that's true, could it also be "a lo que va" or "a el/lo cual que va"?

I believe "el salón de belleza al que [ella] va" is the same as "el salón de belleza al cual [ella] va", but "al cual" sounds formal than "al que".

thesmithtopher, first of all, GRACIAS por poner el diálogo y la traducción, buen trabajo. El salón al que ella va, or you can also say, el salón al que ella va, or el salón al cual ella va.

The form "el cual" is less used and it is quite formal.

I laughed so hard I nearly spit my lunch all over my place! For now Ben Ganza is my favourite character (I imagine him in a large Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses), I think I'll start a fanclub or something...

Smithtopher gracias por su traducción.  It's obvious that you, Anna8 and others have a great ear. Todavia es duro para mí.  As an example when Claudio says "ya hemos sido a todos lugares..."  I heard "emozido" instead of "hemos sido".  Needless to say emozido wasn't in the dictionary (ha ha). 

Even when I re-listen, I still hear the wrong words - patience however is a virtue.  Although I did understand most of the dialogue, you definitely filled in the blanks.  Thanks again and I also enjoy your posts.

Hola Steve.  I wondered about this as well, and today I asked a well-educated native speaker about it.  She said that yes, está is correct, but in speech you very often hear es.
