I have wondered about using the word "quiero" when in a restaurant (or anywhere) since someone told me it isn't considered as polite as other ways.  I think the other suggested way of requesting was with a "favor de" but I don't know how to combine that with what I'd like to ask for....Is "Quiero...." truly alright to use?
