One thing I never completely understood is when you can use the construction "yo voy" (ir) vs "ir a" . 

I know you can say things like "voy por el", "voy para casa", "voy para alla", but could you elaborate a little, as well as give me few other examples?

Tuve un clase de español por teléfono por dos años, y sí fue bien dificíl aveces, me cuesta muchisimo.

Por suerte, no tengo que hablar mucho por teléfono, pero no esta mal si tienes una buena conexíon, con un teléfono fijo, por ejemplo. Pero si hablas por celular y la conexíon esta mal, ¡ay dios mio!

De hecho, tengo que llamar un hotel en Tijuana para confirmar mi reservacíon y pagarla. 

They know they're going to encabronar (piss off) a lot people, but what can we do? Sure, we won't renew our subscriptions, but they're confident they can pull in a new customer base and stay alive.

Even though I've got 5 years behind me and routinely speak with people, I still don't catch every word I hear, in a podcast or otherwise. Then more you listen, read and speak the easier it gets.

Stick with it. Determination is the most important thing you need to be successful.

There is nothing out that there compares to the quality of the work the team did. I would have paid twice as much for the service. Too bad Praxis didn't work hard enough to find a better solution to the problem.

In English, the answer to that question would have been "yes, I'm coming", not going.  That's where things get confusing for me.  We often use coming and going with the same meaning.  But in Spanish I guess you don't?

I think I mostly get it, but here's an example that maybe you can clear up for me:

On the phone two people are discussing going to a party.  In English we could say "are you coming to the party" or "are you going to the party".  If I understand correctly, in Spanish you would have to use IR?

For some reason different scenarios pop up and I get a little confused about which verb to use.

Por ejemplo:

Hace falta un cambio en mi vida.

Necesito un cambio en mi vida.

Son iguales?

Can you give us some of examples of when they wouldn't be interchangable?

I really don't know what to say.  I never, ever thought this day would come.  For four years I've anxiously awaited the publication of each and every podcast and couldn't wait to get it loaded on my MP3 player.
