Hi all,

I'm from Scotland in the UK, and have been using SpanishPod for only a few months now with absolutely no previous experience of the language. And I have to say that the team do a really great job.

When I saw a group formed for "total beginners" I jumped at the chance to take the plunge and join in, but also noticed some postings wondering why there aren't more "actual" newbies here and I think that the answer is obvious from where I stand at the moment. They are probably intimidated !!!

Some of the more experienced students tend to flex their "Spanish Muscles" here without even realising it, but not necessarily in a way that is helpful when you are just managing to get to grips with basic vocabulary and forming the simplest of sentences.

So it it my hope that support for newbies though well meant, doesn't include lengthy discussions about e.g the nuances of pretorate tense or something else that seems completely out of my league at the moment, when I'm still grappling with "The cat sat on the mat".

(Actually I just realised that I don't know the past tense of SIT yet, LOL )

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Mowser !

Hi, I have a personal challenge to learn enough Spanish so that I can have some basic conversations when I travel from Scotland to Lima with my (Peruvian) partner in 3 months time. I have tried tapes, CDs etc before, but all of them concentrated on the GRAMMER above everything else. Talking about nouns, pronouns, adverbs etc. and I got bogged down in the technical terminology before I even got off the ground learning the language. SpanishPod is SO different...what a great job. I have learned more in 2 days with you guys than a month on a previous course and you STILL manage to cover the grammer behind it. I can't wait to surprise my partner with what I've learned.
Thank you so much !!

Hola !!
I'm new to this course and to learning Spanish. Great Programme !!! I'm already finding a huge range of pronunciation differences depending on the speaker and the context ( like most languages) and wondered if this is something that is highlighted in your course. Even in this "lesson..."Me llamo" sometimes sounds like MAY YAMO and sometimes like MAY JAMO. All stuff I need to learn!!!
