Thanks for another elementary lesson, this is probably not too hard for me but I am wondering if you have a lesson to direct me to for understanding things like why the verb "tirar" becomes "tiras" and stuff like that. I kinda understand that the "root" form of the verb is "tirar" and that "tiras" is simply the way it is used in that particular context.. but I'm not clear on why. I'm sure you would have had lessons or maybe ¿Que pasa? shows on such subjects as this but I'm not sure what I should be searching for. So any assistance in locating this information would be great.

How do you call someone a "neat freak" ? :)

Carlos Santana is one of my favourite artists.. so I know him.. but not this guy. Now that I actually think about it, I know many Hispanic and Latino artists.. :)

with the 3rd example you have placed the "una" (meaning 1) in between sacar and copia.. rather than before it.. So I am assuming then that "sacar" basically means "to make"..?

How do I just say "I am sick" or "I think I am getting sick" or "I feel sick" etc.. This lessons shows how to say whether or not you are "contagious" and the expansion has an example of saying "We are healthy" but nothing to simply say "I am sick"..

What about making copies of things? I see this lesson is showing how to use words to ask how much it would cost to "print" something.. but let's say I need a copy of my passport or copy of something in larger quanities.. like say I already had a brochure but I wanted to copy it 100 times.

Can I say:

?Cuanto cuesta .. blah blah blah?

and what would that "blah blah blah" be? :)

I didn't ask for English in "this" show. I asked if there were any other shows in production, in planning etc that would be similar to this.

In 5 years, when my Spanish is as good as yours I'll come back and listen to this... but not likely.

Hrmm.. is there a show where you speak about these kind of topics in English? I remember on ChinesePOD there was the show Amber did that was all about the culture and stuff like this.. but there was English stuff as well..

?Que pasa? is not really the same thing..

I'm sure I would find this show entertaining but I understand nothing of it.

In the description of this channel it says "We are trying not only to help you learn Spanish, but also to help you understand how we think, talk, and behave in the Spanish-speaking world.".. yes.. but it is not very helpful unless you already know how to speak Spanish... which is kinda pointless for me as I am just starting to learn now.

Is it just me or does everyone here already know how to speak/type Spanish?? These are newbie lessons and 95% of people are speaking Spanish in the conversations..

It's a bit like here in Australia.. we don't say Os-tray-lee-ya we just say Os-tray-lya.. it rolls off the tongue more naturally without the hard EE sound. So I guess it's the same thing.. more of an accent thing than anything else. I bet there are tonnes of examples where my Aussie accent does the same thing to common English. :)

donde esta el bano - it is pronounced dond es elbano? It seems that you skip over a few of the consonants when you say it fluently.. When you say it slowly I hear all the pieces of the sentence.. You know what I mean? How do I know to do this?

Grammar is good.. it helps me to piece together all the little bits and pieces. I find that I learn better if I understand WHY the sentence is so, not just WHERE all the pieces go. How to say it is what the PODcasts are for.. but without a little bit of grammar it is not as helpful for me. I find that if the words are broken down a little further, even if the literal meaning is useless by itself, I find that my brain fits it together more readily than if I just have these complex phrases that are obviously made up of more than one word. This is perhaps one of the harder lessons in the Newbie section that I have listened to so far, so my comments above might be just me reeling back from the huge amount of data I am having to deal with in this lesson. Perhaps there is really 2 or more lessons within this one lesson here.. I don't know.. but I feel a little overwhelmed by this lesson and I find it hard to keep up with it.

Well everything except for the "word up" reference went in one ear and out the other.. :) but this is my first day at SpanishPOD afterall.. :) I was just checking out what kind of things you do in your Spanish version of the same thing over on ChinesePOD. :) I find it just as difficult to keep up on 请问 so no problemo! :)
