I like JP's idea about reading stories in Spanish. I learn lots of new vocabulary that way. Using a new word in sentences all day is an interesting way to learn. Also learning while you sleep; I haven't tried that one yet. I heard that we should try thinking in Spanish, so if I hear a sentence, I try to mentally try to translate it in Spanish. It is all slow going, but I'm enjoying the process.

Sí me gustan muchos los caballos. Mi marido tiene tres caballos y puede cabalgar como un vaquero. Él cabalga en fiestas tal como Mardi Gras aquí en Mobile, Alabama.

Antes yo salí Nueva York hace catorce años, tuvieron el servicio completo. Pero aquí en Alabama, tengo poner gasolina, reviso el nivel del aceite, y reviso la presión de las llantas. Hoy en días, no digo nunca "llene el tanque".

I enjoyed the lesson very much and miss the good old days, Liliana when I could just sit in my car and the attendant would check the oil, and wipe my windshield and I could pay him from the car.

Es verdad. Ir de compras es muy aburrido. Pero si deseo comer, tengo que ir de compras. Mi lista de la compra es: dos filetes, algunas cerbollas, una carton de leche y brócoli. Nunca ir de compras cuanda Ud. tiene hambre.

I log on to SpanishPod in the evening an hour before my favorite telenovela Pasion comes on. I listen to the dialog, do the exercises and read the conversations. It's almost like I'm in a classroom full of people. SpanishPod has enlarged my vocabulary tremendously and I'm able to understand much of what the heroes, heroines and villians are saying. Thanks SpanishPod!

Thanks for all the good suggestions. I hear Isabel Allende is very good. I believe she also wrote a version of Zorro. Right now I'm in the midst of the Narnia books by C.L Lewis translated into Spanish. But I believe it's best to read Spanish stories in the original language.

Hola todos, Soy Juana aqui. I've always loved the Spanish language, and took it in school a long time ago. Now I seriously want to learn it. I'm enjoying SpanishPod very much, and have learned many new words. I've been watching Spanish tv and am slowly understanding what's going on.
