This is similar to the verb "salir".

Ir is to go, but irse is to leave. 

Me voy, te vas, se va, nos vamos, se van.

I've said it before but I'll repeat it here in this final Del Taco Al Tango.  I still listen to spanishpod everyday at work for almost 8 hrs. 

Today I was listening to older stuff with Esti...Arzak, El Cuento de la Lechera, the Spain lessons (the bulls, the tomatoes, etc) and Avatar with Marco and Leo.  Miami Spanglish with Marco and Claudia.  Colombia with Leo and Soraya.  Both Argentina episodes with Esti, Pepa, and Margarit.  The Mexicanismos with Mini-Lili, Leo and Marco, and of course with all of them Liliana :-)

There really is SO MUCH content here that is so good. 

I've got some other stuff on my ipod, some good stories from leerescuchando.net.  But the thing is with the type of work that I do, I have the luxury of being able to listen almost 8 hrs 5 days a week at work and for a long time everyone at spanishpod has made my work days more enjoyable.  Lili, J.P., Leo, Esti, Marco and Yenni:  You guys have done great work here, I'd say the best in class as it's been so personal and so much fun. 

At work when they see me smiling or laughing maybe it's because I just heard Lili tell Esti...No me hagas esa cara Esti!   Or when Leo tells Lili how now he knows why she liked "The Blind Side" so much and Lili says..."porqueeee" and as he answers Marco starts cracking up too, that kind of stuff has been throughout, so good.   

Guess I'm gonna have to find some good audiobooks and move on to something new, a huge thank you to all of you for providing so much good content and being here in the forum to help whenever we needed it, gonna miss you guys a lot!

Here you're not saying "you" can't freeze that fish.

You're saying "that" fish can't be frozen.

Ese pescado no se puede congelar.Ese pescado no puede congelarse.

Congelarse referiendose al pescado.

You could say ese pescado no lo puedes/puede congelar but I don't think it would sound as natural, maybe depending on the situation and context it would be ok.

There's a couple of different things going on here with "acabar de".

If I say to you...

¿Acabas de leer el libro?   This means did you just read the book?

But if I say to you...

¿Acabaste de leer el libro?  This means did you finish reading the book?

See how the meaning changes?  Just like in English.

You can use the preterit of acabar when asking someone if they’ve finished something too, like maybe someone is doing a job and it looks like they’ve finished...¿ya acabaste?

Hace falta un cambio en mi vida is different than necesito un cambio en mi vida. 

With necesitar you recognize that you need something, there's no gray area.

With hacer falta, it's more like your life is missing something, in this case a change.  It's not as direct.

Yeah, in English you can say to me...Are you coming to the party tomorrow or you can say...Are you going tomorrow and I understand them as the exact same thing.

In Spanish if you're asking me if I'm coming to the party and that party isn't exactly where you are at that moment, you need to use ir.   You would only use venir if you meant to ask me if I was coming to where you are in that moment. 

Same thing with someone knocking at the door, to answer you would use ir because you are going to the door.  Someone knocks, you're late and they knock again so you yell, ya voy!.  In English you would say I'm coming!  But not in Spanish. 

I've listened to so much Spanishpod during the last 3 or 4 years (I've lost track) that it's like I know you guys, I'm truly bummed now as it's starting to sink in.

But like Anna said, if they went independent I bet they'd do pretty good.   I'd get on board for sure.

I like what ecdom said about Spanishpod not being a closed system, but rather online and interactive. 

Here's the thing though, the podcast is a supplement to language learning.  Along with reading, tv, music and other things it helps round out ones tools in language learning. 

There are some good courses out there that start with a total beginner in mind and progress upward, soon though people need to jump into the pool and either sink or swim when it comes to speaking another language.  Courses can only take you so far.

The podcast (this one especially) is one of the greatest supplements someone can have imo.  I don't however see a need to try and develop a course "from start to finish" here with what you guys produce.

The Wire, Deadwood, Rome, Big Love

Big Love is about a guy in Utah who is a Polygamist. He has 3 wives who are all completely different and kids with all of them. He has to maintain everything in secret as Polygamy isn't legal in the States.

The street slang in Baltimore (where The Wire is based) is so difficult that they even had interpretors on the set for the actors who spoke English!! I was explaining that to a Mexican friend, telling him how much would be lost if he was going to watch it in Spanish. Some things are really hard to translate with the same feeling.

Well it's a fact that there's already massive content here to use and certainly enough for anyone to become conversational.

For me it's different though.  I'm already fluent.  I don't need the lessons or the podcasts for that matter but I like them.  I enjoy them.  Del Taco Al Tango and De Pelicula are gems that I really look forward to. 

I still listen to Spanishpod everyday during work for 6 to 8 hrs and at the gym too.  Keeping that much content in my head keeps things fresh all the time but the good thing has been that there was always fresh material coming. 

Anna you're right when you say there's something very personal about the podcast.  For me having Lili, Yenny, Marco, Leo and JP in my ear all these years during work has been really great.  In fact days that my ipod has ran out of juice I forget and instinctively try to press the button when I find myself working in silence.

Over the last 5 years I've done courses, tv, movies, books, music, tons of speaking with natives and of course podcasts.    I put Spanishpod at the top of the list as my most valuable tool as I've taken it with me everywhere and I've learned so much.  I made it interactive too as I've parroted over the dialogues and conversations so many times.   

Really sucks to see it finally ending but a huge thank you to Lili, Marco, Yenny and the team behind the scenes that have made so much good content.

Se ponen is correct but you don’t want to put “los“ in front of no me gustan. Gustan is already conjugated in the plural.

En el diálogo cuando ella le dice...“pero no pagas ni renta, ni gas, ni electricidad...“ lo explicas que ella está usando el imperativo negativo, pero no lo es.   Simplemente le está explicando los hechos.

In the lesson you say that after "creer que" the subjunctive will always follow.

The subjunctive will follow when "creer que" is preceded with "no". 

When creer que is not negative, the subjunctive does not follow. 

Creo que van a ir.

No creo que vayan a ir.

Creo que Jenny se equivocó cuando dijo “porque“ pero no estoy 100% seguro. 

Yo hubiera dicho “para que salgan...“

En cuanto a la Expansion no la he visto, pero igual con lo que has escrito, yo de nuevo usaría “para que“.
