I have noticed that as I have intensified my study, I'm picking up more words on Spanish TV news shows,  conversations I overhear on the subway or when I'm walking past work crews in my neighborhood. I get a sense of progress, but I must admit I got very little from the salsa lesson other than the names of the vegetables!
