¿Por qué “es” y no “está” con la oración—

Soy confuso—un apagón “is” una condición temporal….por lo menos esperamos siempre tan.

También, por favor, está este correcto para “turn off the lights.”

“Apagas la luz.. “

Aqui, en julio, hace mucho calor pero septiembre parece un horno. Hoy voy a ir la playa. Espero que no llueve.

Here, in July, it is very hot but September it feels like an oven. Today, I am going to go to the beach. I hope it doesn't rain.

Thank you for such a fun lesson. Intermediate is a bit beyond my ability, but with a title like “Disgusting”….well how could I not give it a try. I got more out of it than I thought I would and….wow….I love the word …..Wácala…… It’s just plain fun to say!!

Would it be ok to say "Ni modo"....regardless of who is saying it and to whom you are saying it. I guess I'm trying to say.....is "modo" an adjective that must agree with something or a verb that must change.....or is it just an expression that can stay as it's own little self.

Also, is it a common phrase that is understood in Cuba & Puerto Rico as well as Mexico.

What a great lesson! "Coqueteando" is not usually in a beginning Spanish course. It is a fun word and a delightful lesson. TKS. jejeje...I've used "coqueteando" (and it's cousins) all day long and have created a bit of "travesura" in an otherwise dull day. ;) Again....gracias.

Oportunities are all around me and when I get the chance...well...I seem to go "brain dead" and can't think of anything to say (short of "hello, how are you, good-bye). But regardless....I will try to be "braver" and speak up. : O

dmantony, Tks for the info on "cafe cubano" vs "cafe de cubano". I am jealous that you have been to Cuba. I would love to go some day y bebo cafe cubano en la playa y mira el sol venir arriba. ....perhaps when I can speak Spanish a bit better. But it's still fun to dream.

trinitense....really interesting stuff.....do you know if the spanish-slang in the Dominacan is similar in Puerto Rico, Cuba etc. ? Who would think offering a cookie would mean something like that. ....I've been a bit "shy" to try to speak spanish...ekkksss....now I think maybe I need to learn a lot more before I try breaking into conversation. Really don't want to insult anyone...or make a total fool of myself.

Me gusta mi “Crock pot”. Cocina todo el día y cuando vengo a la casa, el aire huele tan rico. Un sopa caliente me fascina en un día frío como hoy.. ♥ ♥ I like my “Crock-pot”. It cooks all day and when I come home, the air smells so delicious. I love warm soup on a cold day like today. ------- And speaking of caliente and it’s various meanings…..someone told me that “Mamisita” is not an affectionate term for Mother but rather it means “hot mama”. ¿Es eso verdad?

JP, Yes, let the lawyers do their job. As for the ITunes name: your name puts you alphabetically next to "Learn Spanish with Coffee Break Spanish"., which has been around for over a year and is an excellent podcast. SP101 does seem to have copied many things from SpanishPod other than just the name but still they may have some things to offer the student of Spanish. Time will tell on that one. However, they don't have you or Lilliana. I mean have you actually listened to their podcast. Boring!! The two of you are encouraging, relaxed, upbeat and never condecending. Your podcast is easy to listen to and never boring. People will see that very quickly. As you say....no te preocupes.
