Check out the caraycaray.blogspot.com here for discussions of La Reina del Sur which premieres Monday evening on Telemundo.  Even though the blog is in English, watching the show with a like-minded group helps me keep my Spanish current.  (Although it's no Spanishpod.  Alas!)

Esposas = handcuffs (fem. plural)

Esposar = to put in handcuffs

Por casualidad, acabo de encontrar 'requete-' con el adverbio 'lejos' en la novela "La Reina del Sur". Se dice:

"...que (yo) estaba requetelejos de Culiacán."

Entonces, se puede escribir el prefijo+adv/adj como una sola palabra.

La palabra es reiniciar, con -c-, no con -s-. A lo mejor es por eso que no se encuentra en el diccionario. El re- es un prefijo, lo mismo como en inglés: por ejemple, restart, reform, reinstate.  Quiere decir "otra vez".

Lo interesante es que el prefijo re- también tiene otro significativo únicamente latino-americano (o eso es lo que creo yo).  Se puede decir:

     ¡Qué chula estás!/ Estás rechula! Estás relinda!

Aquí el prefijo quiere decir "muy" (very cute, very beautiful).  Puedes usarlo antes de varios adjetivos.

También he oído "rete-" y "requete-":  Retechula, requetebien ( rete chula, requete bien -- No sé como escriberlos. Son rete coloquiales) :)

Totalmente de acuerdo contigo sobre 'Alguien te Mira' -- y cada día se vuelve aun más escalofriante.

No he había dado cuenta de eso pero es así -- después de unos cuantos anuncios, desapareció 'Ojo por Ojo' como si nada.  ¡Qué raro!  ¿Qué habrá pasado? 

Y 'Aurora'!  Ay, ni la menciones -- un desperdicio de un elenco que merece algo mejor.  Sí, 'porquería' es la palabra adecuada.

¿Conoces la novela de Arturo Pérez-Riverte, La Reina del Sur, verdad? Pues muy pronto la historia va a salir de telenovela en Telemundo. Kate del Castillo tiene el papel de protagonista, Teresa Mendoza; Rafael Amaya quien es 'el cazador' en la emisión actual, Alguien te mira, será 'el güero'.

A propósito, lo bueno de Telemundo es que muchas de sus novelas son disponibles en internet así que puedes verlas aun sin tener aceso al canal en la tele.

in addition to culture, grammar and cooking shows, you now have
everything you need to go from being a newbie to an advanced, confident
speaker! Beginning in February, we'll be publishing two new lessons a
week, moving to one per week in March, and finally wrapping things up
on April 2nd.

Now we're beginning the next step for SpanishPod, which is to use our
completed materials to help you, our faithful user, have a learning
experience that's as fun and (of course) as educational as possible! To
this end, we'll be working on developing course packages out of the
content we've spend the last 3 years producing. With all the lessons
available, you'll now be able to track your studies from beginning to
end clearly and easily, and while we won't be posting new lessons, we
will still be there to support you and guide you along the way to
language success!

At SpanishPod, taking care of our students' needs is our highest
priority, so we will still be providing you with the same great mix of
lessons, educational tools and support, formatted to be as convenient
for you as possible. Please let us know if you have any concerns,
problems or suggestions, because we're here to help!  In the meantime,

I don't know what underlies this decision.  I'm just very sad about it.  But I'm also grateful for the wonderful work you've done over the past three years, and especially, most recently, to Liliana and Yenny.  Thank you and best wishes to all of you.
