I just read Kelluxo post and it's interesting to note how the lines between the genetic and learned masculinity have blurred. He brings up good points, but from what I studied, guys are mostly socialized to be what they become and worse, many will perpetuate what they get praised or shunned for as they grow by deciding to continue the tradition. In the example of the often praised qualities of strength and toughness, the boys who didn't get any love by being "weak" while growing up aren't likely to show any love for the young ones who are weak as an adult. The same principle can apply for other qualities, such as sexism or lack of good personal hygiene, haha. Things are getting better however, but interestingly enough there is a mondern sexism arrising that many are not aware of: from perception that women are no longer disadvantaged, there is an increasing hostility toward women who are demanding special or better treatment. If you don't think that is true, just ask what most men think of feminists!
