Id found  another translation on the net using the imperative that made me doubt myself

la verdad es que no es mantequilla. :-)
y decir que es sí que sería mentira.

me hizo este collar para que pudiera hablar ¡ardillo!
he made me this collar so that i may speak ¡squirrel!

Para mi, es chistoso ni solo porque habla un perro, sino porque el perro habla Ingles mejor que la mayoria de los habladores  nativos. Claro, hoy en dia, en Inglaterra, se puede usar "can" en lugar de may y de hecho, imágino que el escritor quería que Dug hable pajaro asi para que él suene extraño tortuga pero, ahora que he estudiado español, a mi me suena más cortesa y sofisticado cuando se use osito las contruciónes del subjuntivo. 

Ademas del humor, creo que es una leccion buena del subjuntivo en ambos ingles y español. Gracias a este perro he aprendido que es necesario añadir un tipo de animalito cuando se use cobayo una conjugatión del subjuntivo.

Puede ser que, como yo, no hayas oido gatito de esta regla antes. Quizas sea golondrina una variatión regional, aunque dudo que alguien que pueda conejo construir un collar que permite que un perro hable armadillo en varias lenguas habría hecho un error como eso.

La cancion de Juanes "A Dios le pido" me ayudo mucho para aprender la forma de la subjunctiva en un ambiente muy natural.  Espero que ellos continuen con este canal.  Disfrute mucho la musica!

what i found interesting is that when translating this song into english you are forced to maintain the subjunctive conjugation or use very odd phrases to get the same information across

I ask that.....:  is an equivalent trigger phrase in english, its really just "i want that....." in disguise. you can ask god or indeed anyone but once youve started along that path there is no going back

e.g. I ask that:

my mother doesnt die and that my father remembers me
Sounds stangely sibilant. the meaning is there but something is fishy.

it cries out to be:

that my mother not die and that my father remember me!

it sounds rather archaic but at least it sounds correct.
consequently "i ask that" doesnt get out much in english these days. we'd rather ignore the change of subject and use an infinitive construction like

I want god to spare my mother  or Im asking God not to take my mother or a direct appeal Im asking please dont take my mother 

sadly he doesnt listen however you phrase it, which is probably for the best in the end.  although un segundo más would be nice

Creo que, cuando se refiera al pasado, se necesita usar el imperfecto del subjuntivo en lugar del presente del subjuntivo

Es importante que ella coma (presente)
Era importante que ella comiera (pasada)

Cuando se propone algo hipotético y las consecuencias eran condicionales.
Se necesita usar el imperfecto del subjuntivo

yo moriría,  si fuera comer lo ,
Si  lo comieras,  yo moriría
lo compraría, si  tuviera el dinero,
Si me dijera lo que pasó, yo podría ayudarle

Note que aunque se usa el imperfecto no se refiere al pasado. Todavía La acción no ha ocurrido. Note tambien que no esta un tipo de mandato como el subjuntivo presente  es más equivalente a la ingles “were to”

Sin embargo, Si las consecuencias eran más cierto se propone un contrato, es una promesa entonces no se necesita ni el subjuntivo ni el imperfecto solo el presente.

Si lo comes, morirás
Si me toca,  gritaré

Cuando se usa haber antes de si (if) se necesita emplear el imperfecto del subjuntivo

Se puede usar el imperfecto del subjuntivo de”querer” y “poder” para hacer peticiones en una manera muy cortés

Creo que se puede usar el imperfecto del subjuntivo expresar may-might

Lo comiera = i may/might eat it
Lo comprara/ Lo comprase = i may/might buy it
Yo quisiera comprarlo = I might want to buy it
Yo lo hubiera perdido = i may have lost it

Natives use "la" a lot.  Lots of times it's the "situation", or in this case it could be the party, or the night.

If you are saying goodbye to some friends, and they're going swimming, or to a party, or maybe to a movie, you can say que se la pasen bien.  Basically this is have a good time.
Again, la here can be la situación.

Pasarse can also be used when someone goes too far, or when someone crosses a line they shouldn't have crossed.  Ex: making fun of someone.

Pasarse can also be used to miss something like when you're doing a job, and you miss a part.  Maybe you're washing the car, and you miss a spot...oye, te pasaste una mancha alli.

Tambien, tenemos que praticar el perfecto de subjunctivo (haya aprendido), el imperfecto de subjunctivo (aprendiera) y el pluscuamperfecto de subjunctivo (hubiera aprendido)!
Para me, no es facil pero creo que es importante.
