it seems to me that things would work a lot sweeter if posting in a group automatically signed you up unless barred by the founder.

If you think that you share something with other users why not creat a group where you can share comments, information, tips and even gossips. You can make this groups public, where everyone can apply to be part of the group and where the comments will be visible to everyone in the Community section, or private if you want only selected people in your group and where the comments and posts remain private.

So, create your own groups or join to existing groups now and be part of this new spicy feature.
