warius - Guatemalan spanish
Hi everybody. I have a question about different varieties of the spanish language.
My girlfriend is from Guatemala, and therefore i would like to learn spanish, but as i have understood, spanish spoken in Spain has a lot of differences from the spanish spoken in Guatemala and other Latin American countries. I noticed some of the team from SpanishPod is from mexico and other Latin American countries. which seems to be an advantage for me, but is it also so that the spanish spoken in for example Mexico and Guatemala is also very different? I just registered to SpanishPod, and I will probably try it out for a time, no matter what, as I have good experiences studying Chinese from ChinesePod, and this that it is a usefull way to learn languages, but my essential question is really if i should be much aware of differences between the spanish i learn here, and the spoken spanish i will meet in Guatemala.
All feedback is appreciated. Thanks in advance. Warius
